Being honest about wanting to challenge myself
Tomorrowland has a “Hands Up” in-house referral system for employees to make requests to take on new roles and positions. When I read in the company newsletter about the opening of a new business called B Edition, I got really interested in this new challenge and applied using the Hands Up system.
It didn't take long after the interview. I was immediately assigned as opening staff and began my eventful days in a new environment. Every day taught me something new as I learned about opening a store for the first time and I met a lot of new people all at once. It can be tough sometimes, but everything I learn and all the joy I feel outweigh the negatives. I’m glad I applied using Hands Up.
A closeness in which even the smallest of voices are heard
B Edition is being shaped by four main members. The four of us come from completely different areas, stores, and backgrounds. Although initially nervous, we quickly came together as a team due to our shared goal of creating fans for our store and our determination. We hold general meetings once a month plus regular meetings for us four main members in the mornings.
Everyone I’ve met at this company is easy to talk to. People are very close to each other here. And it’s not just based on the store or framework. On the first day of B Edition, a lot of people from other stores and the head office came to congratulate us. I get to work in an environment that radiates a familial warmth.
Unique and free-spirited fashion
Since my mother worked as a salesperson at a vintage shop, I’ve loved clothing since I was young and I was initially drawn to second-hand fashion. One day, I came across a Super A Market store and was shocked. I was pleasantly surprised to realize the freedom in mixing and matching items, discovering there are no rigid rules on how to select clothes. I also just want to have fun with fashion at work. And spread the joy of fashion. That’s why I joined Tomorrowland.
My current goal is to nurture B Edition as a store, but I'm also interested in buying, so there are many more things I want to do at this company. I would also love to uncover more unique and free ways to enjoy fashion.

After joining the company as a new graduate, she was assigned to the CABaN Shinjuku Isetan store, worked at the Tomorrowland Shibuya main store through the job rotation system, and applied through Hands Up to be opening staff for the new B Edition Newman Shinjuku store. She’s been working at the store since September 2022, and is at the core of the store's development and is also at the store front.
